NTFS vs NTFS (Quick)

Hi everyone,

It has been a long time, i didn’t update my blog. I have 6 tests within 2 weeks. 1 test is not completed yet. My friends always ask me about how to format Windows XP or Vista eventhough I have not even format my own computer yet since Windows XP is installed in my computer (I think about 1++ years). I like to remove virus manually compared to formatting Windows XP to clean the  viruses. When formatting computer, there are options whether we want to choose FAT or NTFS for our file system. And for both file systems we have Quick version or Normal version. for this guide we only talk about NTFS and NTFS (quick) (FAT is not covered yet)

For more information about NTFS, go to here

Whether firmatting using NTFS or NTFS (quick) has own advantages and disadvantages for me. For  NTFS, when we format, it removes file plus scanning the bad sector in our hard disk. The scan for the bad sector is responsible for the majority of the time it takes for to format a volume.

If you choose the NTFS (Quick) format option, format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the disk for bad sectors. Only use this option if your hard disk has been previously formatted and you are sure that your hard disk is not damaged. I only recommend to use this option for new hard disk drive. This format process run faster that normal format option.

So I hope that you choose normal NTFS file system format for your computer unless that hdd is new and no bad sectors. Thank You Very Much, i feel very sleepy now. I have to take a nap before go to class this afternoon. Bye2…….

I just know that full format will scan the bad sector. I thought it only delete everything. Anyway, I use quick format most of the time. :)
